Our dog Gerald had several behavioural issues, with anxiety and confidence. Jake worked with us and me in particular to build my confidence in walking Gerald on my own. He was very patient with Gerald and we are so pleased with his progress. Gerald has come so far from his first lesson and we continue to see improvement each day. Thank you Jake!

We contacted Jake after having our first child. We have two Labradoodles and wanted to make walking with the pram easier and for the dogs to be more responsive with commands. Jake is great in the way he trains. He really aligns with our values of the dogs being family members. He is incredibly knowledgeable regarding dog behaviours and how to change unfavourable responses. We really valued Jake’s time and knowledge and would highly recommend him. Also the dogs loved him.

Jake was wonderfully patient with our dog, and genuiniely connected with him and us over the course of the training which he tailored to our specific needs. Great resources, facilities and knowledge and would highly recommend

At Power Pooches, we teach you how to understand what your dog is saying, so you can build a stronger bond together!
After consulting the shelter, I contacted a behaviourist to get help. Although this was informative and lead me in the right direction, it was not affordable. I further consulted a trainer (whom was really helpful) He inspired me to pursue education in Dog care.
I followed this up with my certificates in Dog training and Dog psychology. I orginally did this to just help my dog, Sasha, however I soon started walking reactive and anxious dogs in my community.
This eventually lead to training and behaviour modfication, along with educating dog guardians on how to fulfill thier dogs needs and create a relationship together.
Power Pooches doesn't train, we teach.
Power Pooches is Sasha (Canine) and Jake (Me, Human), who crossed paths and became family.
Sasha was a rescue that had been in a few different homes and was unable to connect with people.
She had various anxiety issues:
Leash ractivity
Seperation anxiety
Fear of cars
and was not a very confident dog.
I had not been the guardian of a dog for almost 40 years and wasnt sure how to help Sasha.
All dogs are welcome: reactive, anxious, nervous, adults, older, rescues, pups and all breeds.
However, humans only welcomed if they are committed to putting in the work to help thier dogs!

Please note: Power Pooches services are NOT for every one. We do not use aversion methods, halti's or negative cues. We do not believe you must be the pack leader. Our way is centered around positive rewards, education and learning how to read your dog. This will allow a deeper level of communication. Our services require a level of commitment from YOU. Without your time and effort, you and your dog will not reap the benefits of our services.
